hey guys.
i'm writing a blog now, and i post a lot about slalom. it's part instructional, part philosophical, all skate goodness.
except for when i go off talking about how much i love american breakfast and hate my Dutch book. Smiley
so if you want to check it out, please do. if you want to comment and recommend it to n00bs, that would be even cooler. Smiley

Hi Megan,

Like your blog and like your skating as well !
I'm fairly new on the freestyle slalom skating, but I like it a lot. And the Fanny style video's were the first
i saw indeed  Wink

I used to be into aggressive inline skating 'years' ago (like 10! actualy even more...don't mention :p) and was thinking
of getting back on the wheels some day. Back in the days i watched the vids of Arlo Eisenberg and then got into the boots
and hitted the streets like him Wink but for now i don't see myself flying in half-pipes and grinding railroadtracks anymore Wink
so, i watch your vids and others en get into the slalom style  Grin

keep up the good work !
Cheers Sesa

I also used to do some aggressive skating back then (Arlo Eisenberg .... so long ago ... I even got a Tshirt which was designed by him).
Anyway, the fear of hurting myself too much, made me also decide to start with slalom skating 3 years ago. And I'm so happy with it :-)
So good luck with slalom skating !

I remember i had this awesome 'K2- Fatty Pro' skates i realy loved those sk8s ;-)
I realy don't know what to get nowa days, so any suggestions in this area...welcome

And i probably will start the slalom style for the same reason, this is what happens when people grow old(er),
we think to much ;-))

Anyway if there is a spot or place where you and others practice somewhere on earth, feel free to let me know
always more fun with other skaters on the move Grin

Lol. I'm indeed from '82  Grin

Most slalomskaters wear SEBAskates (http://www.sebaskates.com/). These skate are espacially designed for slalom: small frame, very responsive. Most of us also use a special wheel setup: the middle wheels are bigger then the outside wheels. If you want to buy skates, let us know: we can give you more advice.

Where are you from ?

Born and raised on mother earth! still live there and most times do have the feeling I belong here to Wink

But, you like specifics.  So live in Antwerp, center of the city ;-)
Am from 81'

I have read some good reviews on the SEBA FR1 skates and looks like a good choice to me but maybe
an opinion of pro slalomer(s) can point me in good or better direction ;-)

Thanx in advance !

yay! it sounds like i don't know you and you read my blog!

Grin

Seba FR1's are a good skate, but for slalom not *the* best. they will do perfectly fine for slalom and they are also great for tooling around in a non-slalom capacity. it's the kind of skate you can beat on.

Seba high is basically the same idea but more precise. more responsive for slalom maneuvers. love this skate. i recommend the "deluxe" model because the frame is stronger/better than the regular one, but otherwise the same.

i never tried carbons but i heard they are the sh*t because they are like the highs, but way lighter.

i love my igors, but they are not for everybody. there is no liner so the skate is the boot, basically, but that also means that once it's worn out, there's no replacing the liner...it's just time for new skates. at the same time the skate is super-reactive. you can really feel a difference in wheeling tricks.

i tried the ksj skate once and it was really pretty and almost the same idea as the igor skate, but it's way more delicate, imo. i would ruin them quickly.

my igors are beat up already (less than a year old) but then again i do that with EVERY skate so i'm not surprised, nor do i fault the product.
i just skate really hard and fall a lot and try things i probably shouldn't.

isabelle, you did aggressive skating?Huh?
did not know...

Hey Megan,

yeah I read your blog! it's very good, nicely written and found the info I was looking for so (y) = tumbs up) Wink

And I like your idea/dream of bringing an original lunch car Diner over here! i love the authentic stuff from around the globe.
and it the location and management is right it would defo be a big hit  ;-)

The company where I work for is US based and has satellite labs and offices all over the world and i'm trying to get
to the US some day for a while, to live, learn, meet and greet Wink . The open vacancies are in Texas or Callifornia, perhaps
i find some of those cozy diners over there.

Thx a lot for the advice on the skates  Cheesy  Is there a store somewhere that you know to try and check them out ?
and is it doable to buy them on Ebay ?
