The wonderful Sofie (aka "Fôane") Lemaire of StudioBrussel will do a tour of 11 cities on skates ("11-stedentocht") together with Stijn Vandevoorde, for charity.
In this tour, she'll pass Hasselt, and I think we should give her a little freestyle slalom introduction, along with some kind of money-raising demonstration somewhere in Hasselt (preferrably indoors ofcourse). Anyone up for this?
Please ask absolutely everybody you know that skates as well Smiley

2 topics have spawned out of this one:
The event in Leuven
The event in Hasselt

english ! Smiley

edit: because Emma tricked me into translating her dutch post into english:
ok... ok... but we have to do something in Leuven as well, because that's where they start their tour!

And then she quotes the stubru site:
Quote
Collecting money won't be limited to Leuven. During Music for Life, Stijn van de Voorde and Sofie Lemaire will participate in a 6-day "eleven cities march". They'll leave on december 19th from Leuven and will separately travel a hike to 5 cities. Stijn skates from Leuven to Lier, Sint-Niklaas, Ghent, Dendermonde, Mechelen and back to Leuven. Sofie skates through Tienen, Sint-Truiden, Tongeren, Hasselt, Diest and back to Leuven. Along the way, they'll take the necessary breaks to receive your generous donations.

But ok... shall we do something in Leuven as well when they leave there on Decemeber 19th?

Yop !

Shall we have a date somewhere for Hasselt ?
In the best case I will come with Xavier and Tin (Etienne) that are able to give some lessons. I will come with 2-3 peoples from the club to perform freestyle slalom demo or Style jump demo.

I will keep you posted

[EDIT]
BTW do not hesitate to contact us directly when you have those kind of request, we are always pleased to help and share some good moments in roller

Here is some more info (sorry in Dutch again). It would be so nice to have something in Leuven on the 19th or even better on the Christmas eve slotshow. Then we are for sure on tv! Unfortunately Thomas and myself are traveling from the 23rd onwards.
But in fact, the "house in glass" is on the Leuven Martelarenplein (station square) the whole period. The floor is just excellent for slalom (polished black stone), but it is also the only place in Leuven absolutely forbidden for skaters. But for charity, there will be an exception, I suppose. We could wait for a forecast of a dry evening and then call for some slalom skaters to join. This is the best I can think of at this moment. What do you think about this plan?

For the 19th we have booked this evening for you (Tin Xavier and Myself).
Regarding the christmas eve I think this will be difficult for me and for Tin, we have both family and Roller takes us so much time that if I claim to go skate on the christmas eve we will pass the 31 together outside  Grin

For Hasselt we are waiting the date and hour.

Talked about it yesterday to Sch3lp, but I totally forgot that I have an event going on as from 22/12 till 30/12 (except 24/12 & 25/12) so there's a good chance I won't make it...

Hi  Wink

As Helix/Frosties/Thomas said, I will be with you the 19th.
Indeed, it is not an option for me to leave my family alone for christmas eve  Undecided
I am very happy to go with you having fun for a good cause  Smiley

I am waiting the timetable and a gps address to go that day (or at least the address of a easy parking...)

I got a response from StudioBrussel, and it says we should make this demonstration official by contacting the Red Cross. That way our event will be officialy recognized as being an event for charity, and will be published on the official Music For Life events calendar.
It also said we should contact Sofie directly to ask when she thinks she's going to pass by Hasselt. I've already sent her an e-mail Smiley

I'll keep you posted!

One little question  Tongue

For the purpose of this event (collect money for charities), what would be better ?

1) To have freestyle-competent people to make a high quality show with some teaching-competent people to learn Sophie and her crew if any.
2) To have maximum of freestyle-lovers, even beginners, plenty of cones and do a BIG event with plenty of people going through the cones.

If 2) is the way you want to do, tell us, we should shout and mail all over our freestyle-friends and we would be twice more  Wink
