So, this is like, the "official" announcement of the Battle Competition we're organizing. What? A freestyle slalom competition, in battle format. When? 17-18-19 July 2009 Where? The venue will be the Grenslandhallen in Hasselt. We know, it's indoors, but we chose not to depend on Belgium's weather Any questions? Also: tell all your friends Battle Belgium Page : http://conecrazy.be/BattleBelgium2009

Hi! We ( Jan, Felix and me ) like to come to visit the nice city Hasselt But . . . have you any idea how we can get there? By plane, bus, train or anything else ?? I could not find much except very expensive traintickets Lot of greetings - hope weŽll see us!

Hello Miriam,
I don't know exactly from where you will be coming, but if taking the train to Hasselt is too expensive, you should maybe check whether there are more cheaper trains to Maastricht (Netherlands) and then take a bus to Hasselt (bus from Maastricht to Hasselt will cost less than 3 euros and will take 30 minutes I think). I don't know if there are any cheap flights so you can fly to Brussels and take a train , or flying to Maastricht or Eindhoven is also possible and then take a bus (with ryanair for example).
I think we will put up a website with practical information soon.

Subscriptions are now opened.
Just send an email to BattleBelgium at gmail dot com (with "Enlist" in the subject). Make sure to include your first and last name, gender, team(s)/sponsor(s) you skate for, which country you're from and the discipline(s) you'd like to compete in.

"there's also a Quick nearby" <-- Is that a Threat? Or is Belgium Quick better than the one here in France? Anyway, i will be with 99.99% certainity there (as a spectator though, not good enough for Battle yet), just need to figure out how the Belgian Train System works, but I assume that it's easy to get a Ticket from Hasselt to Brussels Midi in the Hasselt Train Station?
Looking forward to it Scrap that. Looks like I will be moving from France to California in July. Don't like the timing, would have loved to be at the event. Good Luck and have a blast!

Don't you have to buy a ticket from midi to Hasselt first? If you would need a timetable or something, let us know... we can post it!

Our national train company: http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/index.phpPeople that arrive by Eurostar or Thalys arrive in Brussel-Zuid/Bruxelles-Midi. There are direct trains to Hasselt (takes 1.5h) People that arrive at Brussels airport can take the train from the airport station. There are direct trains (I think) or you can switch trains in Leuven or Brussel-Nord.

Team Jochen just booked trains & hotel! Yes, we are all coming, the complete team! Just one question about food: I'm not sure I want breakfast in the hotel, is there anything near the hall where you can get something to eat? What is a "Quick" and does it have something to eat? Jochen

Jochen Hello Jochen, Which hotel did you book ? If it is in the city center, you will find enough other places where you can buy breakfast. The hall is a bit outside the city center, so it would be better to buy breakfast before coming to the hall (although we will also sell some food I think). A Quick is the Belgian version of Mc Donalds

I'm in the "Ibis" so yes, I think it is in the center of town, close to the train station. Thanks for the explanation, I thought "Quick" was some kind of supermarket. Jochen

So finaly I found a "victim" to drive us to Belgium by car! IŽm so glad to be able to visit you and your contest. On the Homepage of the battle you offered to organize a hotel/hostel for visitors? We need space for 4 persons. If possible quite cheap . . . Many greetings and we are looking forward to Hasselt!
